Graduate study – University of Kansas. Includes courses in Administration Theory, Analysis of the Teaching Process, and Instructional Planning for the Exceptional Child.

Work Experience

Jan. 1990 – Jun. 1997, & Sept. 2000 to 2006. University of Kansas. Education research. Field research assistant working with teachers in urban, suburban, and rural schools in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area to develop successful learning strategies in inclusive classrooms.

Sept. 1986 – May 1989. Substitute teacher in all subjects and grade levels.

Elected Positions, Affiliations and Activities

Blue Valley Board of Education. Elected April 1997, re-elected April 2001. Elected President July 2002.

Blue Valley Education Foundation Board Member.

Kansas Association of School Boards Regional Vice-President. Elected spring of 2000. Re-elected spring 2003.

Johnson County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). Appointed spring of 1997. Active until Spring 2002.

Kansas Association of School Board Legislative Committee. Appointed regional representative spring of 1999, re-appointed spring of 2000.

Kansas Delegation of the Federal Relations Network. Appointed for 2000 conference and re-appointed for 2001 and 2002 conferences.

Kansas Learning First Alliance. 1999 to present. Served four years as co-chair of the Student Achievement Committee and coordinated the state-wide math audit in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Education with money from a Kauffman grant. Have served the last five years on the executive committee.

Kansas Leadership for Tomorrow class 2005.

Leadership Overland Park class of 2006.

Participated as a team member in presentations at statewide and national conventions on a variety of educational topics such as character education, technology integration, the key work of school boards and school consolidation.

Authored articles in the Kansas School Journal and opinion pieces for the Sun Newspaper.

Award of Excellence from Kansas Learning First Alliance for statewide math leadership.
